JAMSHEDPUR | February 24, 2026 – The Steel City is draped in a sense of spiritual fervor as it prepares to welcome the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, for a landmark event. On February 26, the President will perform the Bhumi Pujan and lay the foundation stone for the Sri Jagannath Spiritual & Cultural Charitable Centre, a project poised to redefine Jharkhand’s cultural and spiritual map.
A Convergence of Spirituality and Statehood
The upcoming visit marks a significant homecoming for the President to a region she shares a deep bond with. The ceremony is not just a construction milestone but a celebration of the state’s heritage. To ensure the event mirrors this importance, a high-level coordination effort is underway between the Sri Jagannath Trust, the Jharkhand Government, and Tata Steel.
Mr. S K Behera, the Managing Trustee of the project, has been the driving force behind the preparations. Working alongside a dedicated team, Mr. Behera has been overseeing the transformation of the site into a grand venue capable of hosting the nation’s highest dignitary.
Administrative Vigilance
The district machinery has shifted into high gear. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) have been conducting daily inspections of the site. Security protocols, VVIP movement routes, and seating logistics are being fine-tuned to ensure a seamless experience.
> “Our team is working round-the-clock in tandem with the district administration and Tata Steel. Every detail, from the Vedic rituals of the Bhumi Pujan to the security of the guests, is being handled with utmost precision,” said a representative from the Trust.

High-Profile Invitations Extended
The reach of the project extends to the highest offices in the state. Recently, a delegation led by Mr. S K Behera visited the capital city, Ranchi, to personally invite the state’s top leadership.
* Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren was formally invited and briefed on the center’s vision for social and cultural upliftment.
* Governor Shri Santosh Gangwar was also requested to grace the occasion, emphasizing the project’s significance to the entire state of Jharkhand.
More Than Just a Temple
According to the Trust, the Sri Jagannath Spiritual & Cultural Charitable Centre is envisioned as a “global hub.” Speaking on the vision behind the center, Mr. S K Behera stated:
> “It is a profound honor to have Mahamahim President Murmu with us. This center will transcend being a place of worship; it will be a sanctuary for peace, service, and the promotion of our rich cultural values.”
